POLICE REPORT
A 16-year-old male juvenile was arrested on a drug charge Friday after a brief chase.
Police Chief Thomas Harris said Sgt. Jody Tillery spotted the youth, who had an outstanding detention order.
Harris said a chase ended at a neighborhood convenience store.
“Sgt. Tillery found marijuana in some potato chips,” Harris said.
The juvenile was charged with tampering/fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair and possession of marijuana (less than two ounces) in a drug-free zone.
ASSAULT—Harris said a 38-year-old Rockdale man was arrested Thursday in connection with an incident in which a family member was hit in the head with a bottle.
Eric Deshaun Mack, was charged with assault family/household member with previous conviction and was released on $15,000 bond.
Harris said the victim was treated at Little River-Rockdale Hospital and released.
CALLS—Harris said two reported runaways were located and taken to the Rockdale Campus-Youth Opportunity Investments (juvenile justice center).
Police are investigating a report of aggravated assault of a child from the past.
“It was a recalled memory of something that occurred years ago,” Harris said.
Also under investigation are incidents in which a window was shot with a bb-gun and medication was taken from a lock box.
Other incidents reported included criminal mischief, assault, possession of marijuana, violation of city ordinances, criminal trespass, public intoxication with prior convictions and driving while intoxicated.
ACCIDENT—Police were called to a two-vehicle accident at Murphy Oil/Walmart at 12:38 p.m. Thursday. Drivers were listed as Ronald Springer of Hondo and Steven Howeth of Cameron.
Minor damages were reported.
CITATIONS—Police issued 24 speeding tickets during the past week.
Other citations issued included two for animal-at-large and one each for driving while license invalid, displaying expired registration, failure to report change of address/name, no proof of rabies vaccination, running a stop sign and unsafe start from parked, stopped or standing position.
SERVICE CALLS—
Offi cers responded to 126 calls for service during the past week and there were 81 calls received through the 911 emergency system.
