Thornburg new pastor at San Gabriel Baptist Rev. Russell Thornburg has accepted the position of pastor of San Gabriel Baptist Church effective immediately.
Thornburg a Pampa native, is a graduate of The University of Mary Hardin Baylor and holds a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Theological Seminary in Dallas. He was licensed by First Baptist Church in Rockdale and ordained by Blackjack Baptist Church at the beginning of his ministry. His journey has been to be missionary pastor in Minnesota most of his ministry. He and his wife, Beth, have returned south to be closer to his wife’s parents.
“Services and church sponsored events are open to all who desire to experience a fulfilling Christian lifestyle,” said spokesperson Eunice Stigall.
Regular services include Sunday school and worship each Sunday at 10 and 11 a.m., respectively. A weekly Bible study and supper is observed each Wednesday evening at 6 p.m.
The church is located at 263 CR 421A, six miles north of Thorndale about two blocks off the intersection of FM 486 and FM 3061.
