Several Lenten events slated for this week

First Presbyterian Church will have several activities during Holy Week at the church, 1600 Alcoa Ave., Rockdale.

The schedule is as follows:

• Thursday–Maundy Thursday service, 6 p.m.

• Friday–Good Friday worship, 5 p.m.

• Sunday–Sunrise service at Memorial Prayer Garden, 7 a.m., followed by coffee, fruit and pastries; Easter worship service at 10:30, followed by Easter Egg hunt in and around prayer garden.

Community prayer meeting set for Friday

Rockdale and Milam County churches, residents and leaders will host a community prayer circle Friday at Tiger Field.

Pastor Royal Johnson is leading the community goodwill initiative that begins at 5:30 p.m.

“We’re going to fill the stadium with prayer,” Johnson said. “We have no goals for the number of people to attend. I’d rather have three people who are sincere in their faith than 4,000 who just want to show up.”

Johnson hopes the prayers will inspire and support leaders of the community and future leaders into guiding Milam County to social and economic prosperity.

Peace Lutheran Easter schedule announced

Peace Lutheran Church has scheduled several Easter activities throughout the week.

The first will be a Maunday Thursday service at 6:30 p.m.

On Friday, youth along with grandchildren of church members will be hosting a bake sale at Walmart to raise money to attend summer church camp or a mission trip. Later that day the church will host a Good Friday service at 6:30 p.m.

On Easter Sunday there will be an 8: 30 a.m., breakfast potluck followed by an Easter Egg Hunt at 9:30. Easter services will be at 10:30 a.m.

Revival at Allen AME features Paul Quinn

Allen AME Church will host the Paul Quinn District Worship Service titled “The Last Seven Words” 6 p.m., Friday.

Local pastors will preach throughout the Holy Week revival at 216 E. Third St., Rockdale.

UM church sets Holy Week schedule

GAUSE–The Gause United Methodist Church announces its Holy Week services.

• Thursday–Maundy Thursday (with communion) will be at 6 p.m.

• Friday–Good Friday service is at 6 p.m.

• Sunday–Easter service begins at 9:30 a.m. with Pastor Kyle McNeely leading the worship. An Easter egg hunt for kids will follow the service.

Easter egg hunt slated for Saturday, April 20

THORNDALE—Saturday’s Easter Eggstravaganza from 10:30 a.m.-noon is open to children through the fifth grade.

The activities, bounce house, hot dogs and an Easter egg hunt, will take place at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 101 N. Third St. Thorndale. Call 512-898-5455 for information.

Community sunrise service on Sunday

CAMERON–A Community Sunrise Service will be held Sunday at 6:30 a.m. at the Downtown Mall in Cameron.

The Abiding Savior Lutheran Church and the Cameron Area Ministerial Alliance (CAMA) will have chairs available for Easter service or worshipers can remain in their vehicles. The dress is casual and a light continental breakfast will be served.

In case of inclement weather, services will be conducted in Bea’s Kitchen in Cameron.

Baptist church will host conference for men

Meadowbrook Baptist Church’s mens program registration is open until April 24.

The May 3-4 Men’s Conference registration fee is $65. It will be $75 after April 24.

Christian pastor Jerrad Lopes will discuss Biblical Manhood in a program entitled Dad Tired. The conference material is from the best-selling Dad Tired devotional “Stop Behaving.”
