at Baptist church
A Sunday Baccalaureate service for the Rock-dale Class of 2019 will be held at Meadowbrook Baptist Church at 3 p.m.
Baccalaureate is an old Latin word for a sermon and worship service designed specifically for graduates. The church is located at 1401 Colorado, Ave., Rock-dale.

Church celebrates
pastor’s service
Springfield Baptist Church is celebrating the 33rd anniversy of S.L. Ross, Jr.’s time at the pulpit with the church on Sunday, May
19.
The congregation will also honor Pastor Ross’s wife, Vivian L. Ross.
Ross’s nephew, Bishop Ricky Ross of New Dimension Church of Houston will speak at the ceremony at 3 p.m., May 19 at 232 E. 3rd St., Rockdale.
Music concert
set for June 22
Rising Star Baptist Church is hosting the Songs for the Savior music concert on Jun 22.
The concert based on the Ephesians 5:19 scripture: “... singing and making melody in your hearts to the Lord,” starts at 7 p.m. at 1055 Texas St., Rockdale.
Admission is $5 per person. The concert will feature the Prairie View A&M Mimes, Rising Star choir, New Jerusalem Dance Ministry, New Hope Women of Worship.
Church youth
group seeks sites
St. John’s United Methodist Church will be hosting a youth ministry camp called Big House the week of Jun 26-30.e
Over 60 youth and adults will be coming to Rockdale to serve the Lord in mission. As part of this mission, the church is working to find worksites for the students while they are visiting.

Faith-based group
delivers meals
Emmaus Project Rock-dale will deliver meals to Rockdale area residents Saturday, May 25.
The non-profit non-denominational group cooks and delivers meals to 200 Rockdale residents. Volunteers are needed on Saturdays when meals are delivered from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Volunteers are also welcomed for home-repair projects, prison and substance-abuse programs, and church-affiliated orphanage in Camargo, Mexico.
