Cowboy Christian camp for teens

Signup for Summer Cowboy Church camp in Oklahoma is underway at the Milam County Cowboy Church.

This will be the fifth year the congregation will be taking its youth to Stuart, OK for the Walk on Water (WOW) camp sponsored by the American Fellowship of Cowboy Churches organization, according to Daniel Garrison, youth pastor.

“The kids learn all things western,” he said. “Calf branding, wild pony rides, water activities – it’s all related to devotional in the Bible.”

Students in grades seventh through 12th will attend camp June 12-16.

Students in grades third through sixth will attend camp July 25-29.

Church movie night scheduled for Friday

Movie and church goers can grab a blanket and lawn chair for the outdoor movie night screening of “Let There Be Light” on Friday.

The San Gabriel Baptist Church will host the screening at 7 p.m., 263 County Road 421A, Thorndale

Admission is free. There will be food and entertainment before the movie.

Songs for the Savior music event set

Rising Star Baptist Church is hosting the Songs for the Savior music concert for the public on June 22 starting at 7 p.m. at 1055 Texas St., Rockdale.

Admission is $5 per person. The concert will feature the Prairie View A&M Mimes, Rising Star choir, New Jerusalem Dance Ministry, New Hope Women of Worship.

Area church groups plan on “...singing and making melody in your hearts to the Lord,” Ephesians 5:19.

Church summer fun starts in June

First Presbyterian Church will host its 5th Annual Ice Cream Social on June 30 at 5 p.m. under the Pavilion. The church will also host a hamburger and hot dog picnic on July 14 after its Sunday worship service.

Baptist church celebrates pastor

Mt. Zion Baptist Church will host a special Homecoming service Sunday.

Pastor Conley Shelander of Fort Lupton, CO, will be the guest speaker. A pot luck lunch will follow the morning service.

Conley will retire later this year after 45 years in the ministry and having served the last 26.5 years at Fourway Baptist Church.

The public is welcome for this special celebration. Bible study at 9:45 a.m. and worship service at 11 a.m.
