Church helps area schools, teachers
Murray Street Church of Christ served 66 area students in its annual school supply giveaway last Monday.
The church also hosted 100 teachers and staff from the Rockdale Independent School District at its annual breakfast last Tuesday.
Grief support group starts in September
Loss of a Spouse event hosted by Melda Burns is scheduled for 6 p.m. Sept. 9 in the Bill Jones classroom at Meadowbrook Baptist Church, 1401 Colorado Ave., Rockdale.

She will discuss Grief-Share, a weekly seminar and support group designed to help those suffering from a loss to rebuild their lives.
The grief support group helps individuals after the death of a loved one.
The group will meet for 13 weeks Sept. 16-Dec. 9, 6-8 p.m. at Meadowbrook Baptist Church.

Wednesday youth groups start up
The Summit Youth Ministry at St. John’s UMC will meet 6 p.m. Wednesdays.

MPact worship service at Meadowbrook Baptist Church starts Aug. 21 at 5 p.m.
The worship, prayer, Bible study and meal for youth is at 1401 Colorado Ave., Rockdale.
Ascend Youth Group at First Baptist Church of Rock-dale meets Wednesdays from 6to 8 p.m. in the Family Life Center at 240 Green St., Rockdale.
Comedian headlines church cancer event
Tracie L. Davis will host the Jokes for Hope in honor of breast cancer awareness month Oct. 26 at Rising Star Baptist Church.
John Olivarez and the J and J Praise Ministry will hold worship service.

Back to school bash slated for Saturday
Mike Romero, an indie Christian music singer, will perform a MC3 Back to School Bash 2019 at Milam County Cowboy Church.
The bash is from noon to midnight Saturday at 2100 N. Highway 77, Rockdale.
Youth groups and individuals are invited to attend. There will be games, food and fellowship.

Rev. Jeremy Brown, an evangelist/comedian hosted a four-day revival at First Assembly of God in Rockdale, Aug. 11-14.
