Israel lecture deadline

for reservations Saturday

Dr. James Fleming will present a program called “Lessons About God From the Lands of the Bible” at St. John’s United Methodist Church on Sept. 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with check-in at 8:30 a.m.

Fleming is a lecturer and director of Biblical Resources, LLC located in LaGrange, GA.

He has lived and worked as an archaeologist and educator in Israel since 1974 and has taught classes for the School for Overseas Students at Hebrew University and the Ecumenical Institute in Jerusalem.

Fleming has developed courses in historical geography and biblical history, tying the studies with biblical text, with an emphasis on the theological implications. He is the author of several dozen notebooks and teaching materials that help pastors and leaders in the church.

iveaway rummage sale Saturday at Meadowbrook

Meadowbrook Baptist Church is hosting a Free Giveaway on Saturday from 8-11 a.m. in the church fellowship hall. The items include household items, clothing, furniture, home décor and a host of other items.

Sunday Baptist church

celebrates its 11 year

Rising Star Baptist Church is celebrating its 112 year anniversary with a homecoming celebration Sunday, Sept. 15.

The two services set for 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. will be at 1055 Texas St., Rockdale.

Pastor Charles Ray Terry, a 1966 RHS graduate, and the congregation from the Greater New Birth Baptist Church of Plano will be guests.

Terry founded the church in Plano in 1978 with 12 members. They celebrated their 41st anniversary this year.

The family members of Edgar and Alice Davis are the 2019 homecoming sponsors. The Davis’s were longtime members of Rising Star.

Five-day tent revival

scheduled at Holy G host

First Assembly of God is holding a Holy Ghost Tent Revival from Sept. 16-20 at 7:30 p.m.

Revs. Randy and Rhonda Whited from the Army of the Lord Ministries will be preaching and ministering in music.

Breast cancer awareness comedy show in O ctober

In honor of breast cancer awareness month Oct. 26 at Rising Star Baptist Church, Tracie L. Davis will deliver a stand-up routine as part of the Jokes for Hope event.

P olka worship service

Sunday in Bartlett

BARTLETT – Temple’s Praha Brothers Band will hold a polka worship service at St. John Lutheran on Sunday, Sept. 15.

Liturgy and hymns will be played by The Praha Brothers Polka Band from Temple. The service will be directed by Rev. Ardene Wuthrich.

A home-cooked German meal will be served following the service. Meal tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door. Takeout plates will also be available.
