First Presbyterian announces fall activities
Trick-or-treaters will be welcomed for the annual Trunk or Treat celebration at The All Saints Pavilion at 5:30 on Oct. 31.
The third annual Classic Car Show and Fall Festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 16. Entry fee for cars is $20 per vehicle, plus a bake sale, door prizes every hour, craft vendors, BBQ pork sandwiches and music by the Communities in Concert Band. Because the RISD Pumpkin Patch Fundraiser was canceled due to “frost on the pumpkins,” First Presbyterian Church is donating all the proceeds from this year’s Car Show and Fall Festival toward Pack-Pals/Christmas Round-Up.

First Christian sets spook house Oct. 31st
The First Christian Church will have it’s annual Fall Fest on Thursday, Oct. 31, from 5 to 7:30 p.m.
Fall Fest is open to the youth of the community and their parents or guardians at no charge.
They will offer hot dogs, candy for the kids, and their annual spook house.

Thorndale First Baptist celebrates anniversary
First Baptist Church of Thorndale, 100 Sydney Blvd., is celebrating its 130th anniversary on Nov. 3 with worship at 10:30 a.m. and lunch to follow.

Scholarship contest deadline November 11
Ms. Sue Grove and family with Star Creek Ranch are holding an essay writing contest and giving away 30 scholarships with a value of $1200 each. They will also offer a chance for children to go to a non-denominational church camp called Sky Ranch from the end of May through the middle of Aug.
The topic of this year’s essay contest is Mark 12:30-31. This verse says that God’s greatest commandment is to love God and love others. Essay writers are asked to describe 10 ways they follow this commandment.
There is no length for the essays, but grade schoolers are required to hand-write their essays. Older children may type theirs.
Deadline for the essays is Nov. 11 and no late entries will be accepted.

Movie day set at
Meadowbrook Baptist
Meadowbrook Baptist Church invites the community to a showing of the animated film, “The Pilgrim’s Progress” Saturday, Nov. 2 at 10 a.m. in the fellowship hall. Doors open at 9:45 a.m.
The film is intended for ages eight and up. Some scenes may be too intense for younger children. Parents are asked to attend with children under 12.
Rising Star to hold cancer awareness event
Rising Star Baptist Church will hold a Cancer Awareness “Jokes for Hope event on Sat., Oct. 26 at 6 p.m. Christian comedian Tracie L. Davis of Tacoma, WA will be the entertainer.
Admission is free but reserve your seats in advance.
