Wife Appreciation
Rising Star Baptist Church will host their 11th annual Pastor and Wife Appreciation with Dr. R. L. and First Lady Margaret Johnson on Sunday, Feb. 23, at 11 a.m.
Guest ministers are Toni Hanson from St. Mary Baptist Church in Pflugerville at 11 a.m. and Dr. Anthony Lang and congregation from West Union Baptist Church in Bryan at 3 p.m.
The public is invited and light refreshments will be served.
Peace Lutheran Ash
Wednesday, Lent events
On Ash Wednesday, Feb. 26, Peace Lutheran will be holding two services: 12-noon and 6:30 p.m. A light lunch will be served after the noon service. All are invited.
The Wednesday Lent Soup Suppers will be starting on March 6 and will run throughout Lent: March 6, 13, 20, 27, and April 1. Suppers will begin at 6 p.m. followed by a short service at 6:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.
The community Holy Week noon luncheons will again take place at Peace Lutheran this year April 6-10.
Peace Lutheran will also hold Maunday Thursday and Good Friday evening services during Holy Week.
Methodist Men’s Chili Supper set for Thursday
The Methodist Men of St. John’s United Methodist Church will hold their annual Chili Supper fund-raiser on Thursday, Feb. 20, serving from 5 until 7 p.m. (dine-in or take-out). The event will be held at the church fellowship hall, Summit at Hillcrest streets in Rock-dale.
Tickets are priced at $9 each and can be purchased from any member of the Methodist Men and will also be available at the doors on the day of the event.
John Shoemake, Methodist Men president, said all funds raised by the annual supper are used by the organization to provide handicap ramps and other community service projects for those in need of help. “We will appreciate the continued fine community support we have had for this event,” he said.
St. Joseph’s to celebrate 140th anniversary
St. Joseph’s Catholic Church will be celebrating their 140th anniversary on Saturday, March 7, at the Rockdale KC Hall.
Bishop Joe S. Vasquez will preside over mass at 10 a.m. with lunch to follow. The KC Hall will cater chicken with parishioners providing sides.
All past and present members are invited to attend.

World Day of Prayer celebrates Zimbabwe
This photo represents the international symbol for World Day of Prayer (WDP), the ecumenical movement led by Christian women who welcome all to join in prayer and action for peace and justice.
The women of Zimbabwe have written the WDP service for 2020, and Peace Lutheran Church is the host church for this prayer service, followed by a light lunch which will include tastes of Zimbabwe.

Rockdale Christian
Church holds revival
The Rockdale Christian Church will be holding a gospel revival Feb. 17-21 at 7 p.m. each evening.
The speaker will be Billy Bob Cox, song leader will be Jim Platt, and Elaine Simpson instrumentalist.
People of all faiths are welcome to attend these services.
