Black History Program Sunday at Springfield
A Black History Month program will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday at Springfield Baptist Church.
Speaker will be church member Margaret Green with the theme “We’ve Come a Long Way.”
Church spokesman Henry Miller said young men of the church will dress in black and white and a sketch will be staged by the church youth department.
He said the public is invited to attend.
Rev. S. L. Ross Sr. is the church pastor.
Life skills classes given at New Hope
A Survival Skills Summit for youth and young adults, ages 14 to 24, is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 23 at New Hope Baptist Church.
The summit, which is from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., is free and limited to 25 registrants. It is open to young people in Rockdale and the surrounding areas. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
The summit will tackle self-help issues and give employment advice.
The summit is sponsored by East Side Tutoring of Rockdale and Lisa’s Hope Chest.

Rising Star Baptist honors pastor
Rev. Royal L. and his wife, Margret Johnson will be honored with an appreciation weekend of services in February at Rising Star Baptist Church, 1055 Texas St.
Feb. 23 – family fish fry at church fellowship hall 7 p.m.
Feb. 24 – Minister Ricky Johnson and Pastor Kevin Love will speak at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. respectively.
The public is invited to attend.
Methodist Men chili supper set for Feb. 28
The United Methodist Men will be hosting their annual Chili Supper 5-7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 28 in the St. John’s Fellowship Hall.
Tickets are $9.00 and desserts will be sold by the youth ministry to raise funds for summer camp.
New pastor to preach at Landmark Baptist
Landmark Baptist Church interim pastor Jim Pace will preach Sundays from 11 a.m. to noon at Landmark Baptist Church, 306 S. Wilcox, Rockdale.
Sunday school starts at 10 a.m.
World Day of Prayer set for March 1
The First Presbyterian Church will host the World Day of Prayer 2019 on March
1.
The church will hold a prayer service at 11 a.m., March 1, at 1600 Alcoa, followed by a light lunch in the Fellowship Hall.
