Holy week luncheons ending on Good Friday

The Rockdale Ministerial Alliance is not holding a combined Easter Sunrise Service Sunday but several local and area congregations are planning such gatherings with the public invited to attend.

And the Alliance’s annual Holy Week noon luncheon services, held in the fellowship hall of Peace Lutheran Church will end on Good Friday after a week of worship and fellowship.

SUNRISE—First Christian Church will host a sunrise service at 7 a.m. on the church lawn west of the sanctuary, corner of Burleson and Bell.

Liberty Community Church, on FM 3242 in the Liberty Community north of Milano, will host its traditional Easter Sunrise Service at 7 a.m.

That’s followed by a potluck breakfast.

First Presbyterian Church, 1600 Alcoa, will hold a sunrise service at 7 a.m. in its Memorial Prayer Garden on the church grounds.

Sunrise on Sunday will be at approximately 7:15 a.m.

HOLY WEEK—The remaining Holy Week services, during the noon hour weekdays at Peace Lutheran are as follows:

Thursday—Speaker, Rev. Gary Veit, Peace Lutheran; music, First Presbyterian; scripture, David Pussman, First Presbyterian; food, Peace Lutheran, First Presbyterian.

Good Friday—Rev. Adam Straznicky, St. John’s United Methodist; music, St. John’s United Methodist; scripture; minister Harry Stevenson, Rockdale Christian; food, St. John’s United Methodist, First Christian.

Services are open to all and conclude in time for working persons to get back to their jobs
