City of Rockdale officials are asking water customers to conserve usage in what is right now, a voluntary request.

“Rockdale is currently experiencing very high water consumption and is nearing Stage 1 of our Drought Contingency Plan,” City Manager Barbara Holly said.

“Water customers are requested to voluntarily practice water conservation and to minimize or discontinue water use for non-essential purposes,” she said,

Recommended watering schedule is to irrigate landscapes only between the hours of midnight and 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. to midnight on designated watering days.

Those “designated watering days” are Sundays and Thursdays for customers with a street address ending in an even number (0, 2, 4, 6 or 8), Saturdays and Wednesdays for water customers with a street address ending in an odd number (1, 3, 5, 7 or 9). Also, the City of
