June sales tax receipts still aren’t showing much good news for the City of Rockdale, Milam County and the Rockdale Municipal Development District (MDD).

All are down for the year and all but the MDD are down for the month of June.

State Comptroller Glenn Hegar disbursed June sales tax checks last week. June checks represent sales taxes collected in April and reported to the state in May

Milam County’s $453,474 collected so far this year represents an 8.86 percent decrease over 2017 collections of $497,564 over the same period.

For the month, the county total was $69,008, down 13.74 percent over the June, 2017 total, $80,010.

The City of Rockdale’s June total was $57,724. That’s down 0.16 percent from the June, 2017 check, $57,821.

For the year, Rockdale is down 4.31 percent, from $391,859 to $374,956.

The Rockdale Municipal Development District (MDD) was up for the month and down for the year.

The MDD total for June was $29,176. That’s up 0.86 percent from $28,925 in June, 2017.

For the year, the Rockdale MDD is down 3.56 percent, from $190,535 to $183,747.

The City of Cameron received a check for $62,455, up 10.42 percent from the $56,560 reported for June, 2017.

For the year, Cameron receipts are down 0.55 percent, from $417,287 to $414,956.

Milano’s June check of $8,244 was up 37.20 percent from the June, 2017, total of $6,008.

For the year, Milano is up 6.02 percent, from $40,681 to $43,131.

Thorndale’s June check was $10,245. That’s down 22.77 percent from $13,267 in June, 2017.

Buckholts registered a 0.31-percent increase for the month. Its June, 2017, check was $1,200, up from the June, 2017, figure of $1,196

For the year, Buckholts is up 10.45 percent, from $8,219 to $9,079.

Of Milam’s adjacent counties which collect sales taxes, only Lee County was down, both for the month and year, while Bell, Burleson and Falls registered increases. Burleson was up 30.64 percent for the month and 19.34 percent for the year.
