After an improvement in October, the City of Rock-dale and Milam County are back “in the red” on sales tax receipts.
The Rockdale Municipal Development District, however, posted gains both for the month and year-to-date.
State Comptroller Glenn Hegar disbursed October sales tax checks last week. October checks represent sales taxes collected in August and reported to the state in September.
The City of Rockdale’s October total was $58,258.
That’s down 19.11 percent from the October, 2017 check, $72,023.
For the year, Rockdale is down 3.42 percent, going from $654,108 to $631,695.
The Rockdale Municipal Development District (MDD) was up for the month and is “in the black” for the year.
The MDD total for October was $29,474. That’s up 8.87 percent from $27,332 in October, 2017.
For the year, the Rockdale MDD is up 0.64 percent, from $309,149 to $311,151.
Milam County’s $778,804 collected so far this year represents a 5.34 percent decrease over 2017 collections of $822,814 over the same period.
For the month, the county total was $76,580, up 0.11 percent over the October, 2017 total, $76,492.
The City of Cameron received a check for $65,553, up 7.13 percent from the $61,186 reported for October, 2017.
For the year, Cameron receipts are up 2.91 percent, from $680,661 to $700,501.
Milano’s October check of $6,581 was up 11.74 percent from the October, 2017, total of $5,889.
For the year, Milano is up 3.68 percent, from $68,466 to $70,992.
Thorndale’s October check was $10,259. That’s down 29.07 percent from $14,464 in October, 2017.
For the year, Thorndale is up 1.61 percent, from 121,502 to 123,466.
Buckholts registered a 16.18-percent increase for the month. Its October, 2018, check was $1,520, up from the October, 2017, figure of $1,308. For the year, Buckholts is up 12.76 percent, from $13,821 to $15,585.
Of Milam’s adjacent counties which collect sales taxes, all were up for both the month and year, with the exception of Lee County.
