Mike Clore announced his intention to seek the GOP nomination for Milam County Sheriff in the 2022 primary election on Saturday. Clore filed his appointment of campaign treasurer with the Milam County Clerk’s Office and for a place on the March 2022 Primary Ballot.

“I am seeking the Republican nomination based on my conservative beliefs, which include hard work, personal ethics, fiscal responsibility and strong family values. I am committed to working cooperatively with the voters of Milam County,” he said.

Clore has served Milam County for over 21 years as a patrol deputy sheriff, traffic enforcement and highway interdiction deputy, patrol supervisor, criminal investigator, narcotics agent, Lieutenant, Captain, Chief Deputy and is currently appointed as Sheriff. Clore currently maintains a Master Texas Peace Officer’s License for Law Enforcement.

“It brings me great pleasure to announce my candidacy to run for Milam County Sheriff, the position I currently hold,” Clore said. “Since taking over this past March, I’ve taken great strides to make this office the finest in the state. I’ve served the citizens of Milam County for over 21 years and am humbled by the support I have received since taking office. With your continued support, I will serve you with dignity, honesty and integrity and strive to keep Milam County safe.”

Clore plans on building, improving and maintaining the relationships with the citizens of Milam County, fellow county and city employees and visitors within our county.

“I am looking forward to serving you, the citizens of Milam County, and I would appreciate your vote in the upcoming Republican Primary on March 1, 2022,” he said.

WHITMIRE—On Friday, Bill Whitmire, former chairman of the Republican Party of Milam County, announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination to the office of Milam County Judge.

Whitmire has been the county chairman of the Republican Party of Milam County since 2009 when he took over for Judge David Barkemeyer. Whitmire has worked in the energy industry out of his family office in Cameron for the past 20 years, working with property owners, public officials and government agencies at the local, state and federal level.

Prior to coming home to central Texas in 2002, Whitmire served 14 years in the U.S. Navy as a Naval Air Crewman, completing five overseas deployments and numerous short-term detachments all over the world.

Whitmire grew up in Lee County and has resided in Milam County for the past 20 years where he has been a board member of various Milam County organizations including the Milam Community Theater and the Morning Star Ranch in Milano. He is also on the church council at First Baptist Church in Rockdale.

“I am proud and excited to announce my candidacy for the Republican nomination for Milam County Judge,” Whitmire said. “A county government that is efficient, effective and reliable is vital in these difficult times. I will represent the people of Milam County with the same energy, determination and transparency that has characterized my career working with landowners throughout the Brazos valley and my service in the U.S. Navy.”
