Food Pantry changing operating days, hours

In order to “try to ensure the safety of our volunteers and clients, and that our disinfecting supplies last), the RCS Food Pantry is changing operating hours and days,” spokesperson Pam Warren said.

The food pantry will be open on alternate Thursdays only, the 2nd, 4th and 5th (if applicable) Thursdays of the month.

“With the CTFB Mobile Pantry at the KC Hall on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays, we will open the RCS food pantry on those alternate Thursdays to ensure food is available to the community each week. In light of our shortened schedule, we will expand our hours from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.”

The pantry will be open Thursday (March 26), April 9, 23 and 30.

“In a food emergency, contact us at 512-446-5710 to schedule a food pickup. We will respond within 1-2 days,” Warren said.

She said distributions of the “Senior Commodity” box from the RCS Food Pantry are suspended until further notice.

Thorndale ISD online during the shutdown

THORNDALE— Thorndale ISD students should keep up with assignments online for the duration of that district’s shutdown, according to Supt. Adam Ivy.

“High school and middle school students have had Chromebooks issued to them and we plan to deliver a variety of assignments,” he said. “Please make sure your children check their emails at least twice a day.”

He said elementary students should use the familiar Class Dojo application.

Ivy said as long as the TISD is closed, students may pick up free lunches from 11:30 am. to 12:30 p.m. daily in a drive-through in the parking lot behind the cafeteria on the north side of the middle school.

“Students must be present in the vehicle to pick up a free meal,” he said.
