At Monday night’s city council meeting Public Works Director Jerald Brunson gave a yearly update on everything his department has accomplished over the past fiscal year from the limb clean up from winter storm Mara, new street signs around the schools, roads that have been sipped and chip sealed, airport fuel station and runway lights and tank repair and adjusting the pressure zones in the city’s water system.
Curah Beard with The 1895 talked about the need for creating an historic landmark preservation program for the city. This would help both the city and The 1895 to apply for many grants that they currently cannot apply for without a historical designation.
Representatives from Rockdale’s Sesquicentennial Planning Committee asked for and will receive HOT funds for a drone show during next year’s summer celebration activities. The drone show will take the place of fireworks for July 4 and will be held at Tiger Stadium.
The council also agreed to waive a parade permit for the Tiger Athletic Booster Club for the annual homecoming parade.
