At Monday night’s city council meeting attendees heard an audit from JBS Consulting Services of Houston who was hired by the city to help them understand water loss issues in Rockdale.

The summary concluded that Rockdale has a 24 percent loss of non-revenue water totals. Some of that is leaks, but not all of it. Non-revenue water is a persistent problem in most municipal water systems. It is water that is pumped or produced but is subsequently lost or otherwise unaccounted for in the system. These losses can include theft, evaporation, faulty metering, poor data gathering and leakage.
