Milam County and the City of Rockdale continue their spectacular recovery in sales tax rebates.

That also goes for the Rockdale Municipal Development District.

April sales tax rebates show marked improvements, compared to the first four checks of 2018, boosting what was already a spectacular start to 2019.

Milam County’s first quarter total shot up to 365,852, a 22.85-percent increase over the $297,795 for the first four months last year.

County Judge Steve Young attributed much of that increase to the Valero pipeline, now making its way westward across the county and the increased oil activity in the Gause area.

The City of Rockdale’s April total was $60,327, up 23.19 percent from $48,970 last year.
