Readers will be able to get a double dose of “The Jungle Book” this weekend.

In addition to Friday night’s movie at The Kay, the Milam County Theater is also performing this play so you’ll be able to see live action as well.

Milam Community Theater presents its second Youth Series performance of the 2022 season. “The Jungle Book” by Joseph Bobinette, directed by Samantha Sanders and Stephanie Junker, and based on the books by Rudyard Kipling will be presented Saturday and May 7 at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., and Sunday and May 8 at 3 p.m. at the Lester and Beatrice Williams Event Center located at 408 S. Columbus Ave., Cameron.

“One of literature’s most enduring classics is brought vividly to the stage in this exciting adventure of Mowgli, the Indian boy, raised by caring wolves, befriended by Bagheera, the panther, and Baloo, the bear, and threatened by Shere Kahn, the evil tiger. Also present are an array of other jungle creatures who inhabit this action-filled play,” said MCT marketing director David Burnett.

He added, “While the very young audience will delight in the portrayal of the animals and the fastpaced action, older children will be fascinated by the character relations and the story itself.

Tickets are $8 and are available at the box office or online at milamcommunitytheater@com.
