Last week Milam County was awarded another grant in the amount of $848,000 from the Texas Water Development Board, Milam County Judge Steve Young announced Monday in the county courthouse.
The grant will be used to map the entire county for flooding. Currently, the county does not have a flood plain map.
“It is very important to have such mapping especially for those new businesses coming to the county,” Young said. “This additional grant brings the 2021 total for Milam County to over $45 million.”
The county does have a match of $220,000 for the grant and that money will come from the American Rescue Act Plan, he said.
