Milam County herd immunity is now at 42.8%.

This includes 6,563 individuals who have been fully vaccinated and 9.5% of the county that have viral immunity. There are 19,689 individuals in the county that could be vaccinated. The largest of age groups is the 18-64, which amounts to 13,677 individuals or 55.1% of the county. Of that group only 29% are fully vaccinated.

Milam County will continue vaccinate. So far 14,338 shots have been administered in Milam County and the Health Department and its volunteers have given most of the shots.

“Please get vaccinated. We will continue to vaccinate until every Milam County resident who wants a shot, gets a shot,” County Judge Steve Young said in an email.

THE NUMBERS—COVID-19 cases this week have been measured Wednesday to Tuesday.

• Cumulative cases – 1,457, up 12 from 1,445.

• Active cases (PCR test) – 12, up 5 from 7.

• Confirmed (antigen) cases – 1,091, no change.

• Hospitalized – 1, down 3.

• Deaths – 48, no change.
