Vaccinations to open to younger people Monday

Effective next Monday, anyone over the age of 18 will be eligible to be vaccinated with the Moderna vaccine and anyone over the age of 16 will be eligible to be vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine

“We want everyone in the county to get on the list and we want everyone in the county to get vaccinated. These vaccines are safe and effective and the shot is almost painless. Our waiting list is low and this is the time to get on the list,” Milam County Judge Steve Young said in his daily email.

On Thursday members of the military along with the Texas Department of Emergency Management will run a 300-dose Moderna clinic.

On Friday, there will be a 450-dose Moderna second round clinic.

These clinics will be held at the former Rockdale Medical Clinic located at 1700 Brazos in Rockdale.

Everyone that is to get a shot will be called and told of their appointment time.

So far, we have tested 3,258 individuals with 962 positive infections which is a 29% positivity rate.

THE NUMBERS— COVID-19 cases this week have been measured Wednesday to Tuesday.

• Cumulative cases – 1,376, up 13 from 1,363.

• Active cases (PCR test) – 6, down 3 from 9.

• Confirmed (antigen) cases – 1,049, up 3 from 1,046.

• Hospitalized – 2, no change.

• Deaths – 45, up two.
