At Monday’s commissioners court the commissioners voted to leave Milam County’s burn ban in place for an undetermined amount of time.

The court also heard from Jim Reed with the Central Texas Council of Governments who told the court how he helps counties with grants, something he said Milam County was very good at doing for the past few years.

“You need to come up with a plan for what you need in Milam County and my job is to find a grant to pay for 80 percent of it,” Reed said.

Carmen Lin, also with CTCOG, was there to tell the court how her Housing Choice department helps the indigent and unemployed find suitable housing. Her department is funded federally by the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

County Clerk Jodi Morgan gave let the court know about this year’s voting dates and locations. She said she would have the updates on the Milam County website soon.

Jennifer Lopez with Juvenile Probation received two grants from CTCOG and both were approved by the court.
