For the first time in recent history, the annual United Steel Workers of America Local 4895 Picnic has been canceled.
Reason is, of course the COVID-19 Pandemic which has affected Milam County, Texas and the world.
“We have been sponsoring the picnic in Rockdale for the last 20 years,” said Richard Dodd of Cappolino Dodd Krebs LLP, “We all look forward to this event every summer.”
“It’s disappointing,” said David Edmonds, Local 4895 past president. “We talked to a lot of folks about how we could have the picnic safely as it is enjoyed by us all, but in the end, we figured it’s better safe than sorry.”
“We are looking forward to next year’s event,” added Dodd.
The cancellation joins a large number of traditional spring and summer events which have been canceled since the virus first made its appearance in Milam County in March.
