Two more Milam County people have died so far this week from the effects of COVID-19, according to County Judge Steve Young’s report from Tuesday night.

At the end of 2020 in Milam County, the COVID-19 death toll was 11. A morbid count that began in April that year when a woman in her 50s died from the disease.

Now halfway through the third month of this year the death count has almost quadrupled to 42. More people in the county have died in the first two and a half months of this year than in the eight and a half months of last year when the count began.

“This is simply another grim reminder that we must all continue to be vigilant and do our part to keep the next person safe and healthy,” Young said. “Wear your mask in public. We must continue to take the safe course to keep our fellow man safe and healthy, because their health, directly affects your health.”
