Around 0ne hundred doses of the Moderna vaccine arrived in Rockdale at the One Stop Clinic on Tuesday.
The Milam County Health Department will begin giving shots to healthcare workers Thursday in Cameron, health officials said Tuesday.
The first phase, called Alpha, will also include emergency personnel, and nursing home staff and residents, Robert Kirkpatrick said at the Monday Commissioners Court meeting in Cameron.
The Beta phase, which will run concurrently with the Alpha phase, is for those 65 and over, and those 16 and over who have preexisting conditions.
Kirkpatrick is the director of Public Health Readiness in Milam County.
“We will vaccinate medical providers that have previously signed up and a few others this week. We should get more doses next week, but we do not know how many,” County Judge Steve Young said in a news release. “I did advise TDEM that we are ready to go in the county and we have partnered with Texas A&M Health Science to administer the drug in the hopes they will recognize that we are serious and maybe we will get more sooner.”
