New COVID-19 cases in Milam County fell to their lowest level in 17 weeks during the past seven days.
If that looks like good news—and it is—here’s another stunner.
For several days over the weekend, the county had no COVID-19 patients in area hospitals. That’s a number the county hasn’t seen since the first virus-related hospitalizations were reported in mid-May.
By Wednesday there were two in hospitals.
DECLINE—During the past week—measured from Wednesday morning to Wednesday morning—new COVID-19 cases in Milam County went from 511 to 519, an increase of only 10.
That’s the lowest weekly increase in Milam since eight new cases were reported for the week (Wednesday to Wednesday) ending June 11.
Active cases were even more dramatic.
County Judge Steve Young said Tuesday evening that active (confirmed PCR cases) were at six. That’s down from nine last week and the lowest total since eight were reported for the week ending May 21.
