COVID-19 cases have continued to spike in the county as testing reveals new numbers of the virus in the Monday through Tuesday testing.

The county currently has a positivity rate of 25 percent.

At the Commissioners Court meeting on Nov. 23, County Judge Steve Young expressed his concern over the growing number of cases throughout the county.

“As of Nov. 20 we have 621 cases. That is a lot of cases,” he said.

As of Wednesday morning there are 674 cases in the county, according to Young’s daily report.

“Robert (Kirkpatrick), the Milam County Health Department director, and his crew are monitoring 194 people,” he said.

On the brighter side, he pointed to the coming vaccines now in the works.

“Hope is on the way,” he said. “This vaccine is coming.”

“We are going to figure out how to get that stuff out there. There will be some mobile vaccinations. We are going to figure out some how, some way so that everyone can get vaccinated,” he said.
