Friday at 5 p.m. is the deadline to file for the May 2 city school and hospital board elections and candidates aren’t exactly lining up. CITY—The Rockdale city ballot did gets its first candidate Tuesday when east ward incumbent Denise Holmes-Wallace signed up to seek a new term. Other term expiring is west ward council member Doug Calame. City voters will also be asked if they want Rockdale to convey the “inside the fence” property at Fair Park to the Rockdale Fair Association. Filing is at Rockdale City Hall. RISD—Incumbent Rockdale ISD school board member Julia Cardona has filed for re-election to her Place 7 position. Michael Whitsel has filed for Place 6, the position currently held by Lin Perry. Filing is in the RISD Central Office, 520 West Davilla. HOSPITAL BOARD—All the Rockdale Hospital Board incumbents whose terms expire this year seeking new terms. They are:
• Gerri Offield, Place 2 (East Ward).
• Karolyn Puccio, Place 4 (West Ward).
• Lachelle Matthews, (At-Large). Forms to file may be picked up at City Hall or the district office in the former Richards Memorial Hospital. THORNDALE—Incumbent Chad Martinka filed for a new term on the TISD School Board during the week. Lance Weidner and Terrell Weise had previously filed. That’s three persons seeking three at-large positions. Term of board member Kimberly Biar is also expiring Filing is at the TISD Superintendent’s Offi ce. Still no filings for the Thorndale city election have been reported as of noon Tuesday. Filing is at Thorndale City Hall. Terms expiring are those of council members Alan Hejl, Wayne Green and Steven Zuehlke. MILANO—No new filings for the week in Milano where all of the city and school incumbents had previously fi led. In the Milano ISD, trustees Ed Westbrook and Jay Willingham are seeking new terms. Milano City Council members Edward Lenz and John Paniagua have also filed, seeking new terms. Filing for both city and school is at the MISD Superintendent’s office.
