Alpha Tau Delta’s 20th annual Dewberry Run was always planned as fiesta, but it wasn’t originally scheduled for Cinco de Mayo (May 5th).
But it worked out that way and it worked out fine.
Originally scheduled for Friday evening, a day in which part of a 7.1-inch deluge caused flooding in central Rockdale, the event was moved ahead two days to Sunday.
Which meant it was run under sunshine and 80-degree temperatures with not a rain cloud in sight.
One hundred sixty-six persons signed up and the run netted $6,400.
In its 20 years the annual Dewberry Runs have raised $116,700 for sorority projects to benefit the Rockdale community.
