CALDWELL—The annual Milam and Burleson Counties Groundwater Summit will be held Aug. 17 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Caldwell Civic Center. The summit is free and open to the public with lunch provided.
This year’s summit topics will include a n up d ate on population growth and the State Water Plan in Central Texas with Tony Smith from the Texas Water Conservation Association. A panel covering the Vista Ridge project—a case study on groundwater rights and regulations—with Charles Porter, PhD; Robert Mace, PhD; Billy Howe, Farm Bureau Associate Director of Governmental Affairs; Gary Westbrook, General Manager Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District (POSGCD) and John Dupnik, Deputy Administrator of the Texas Water Development Board.
POSGCD Board President, give the State of the District information. Other groups will cover the Desired Future Conditions of the State and a legislative update on Bills affecting water in Texas. Bobby Bazan from Texas Ground Water As soc iat ion will talk about pr i vate water well ownership. Michael Redman, POSGCD Regulatory Compliance Specialist and Gregory Perry, POSGCD Water Resource Specialist, will present a program on Water Level Monitoring in our District.
In addition, Joel Pigg from the Texas Well Owner Network and Jaclyn Wise, an extension associate from Texas Water Resource Institute, will go over the POSGCD/ TAMU Agrilife programs and the Texas A&M AgriLife Well Informed program. They will go over the Water Test Results from our Well Water Testing Campaign.
