Eighth-grader Destinee Bluford was the winner of this year’s Rockdale Earth Day Poster Contest. This annual contest is open to eighth graders under the tutelage of Lani Young, RJH art teacher. Shown here are (L-R) Rockdale Earth Day chairman David Melton, art teacher Young, Bluford with her winning poster and Milam County Judge Steve Young. Melton and the judge each spoke briefly to the 22 students who entered the contest about the importance of Earth Day and the creativity of the artists. Bluford won a $25 gift certificate donated by Corona’s Mexican Restaurant.
