—There weren’t any people at home at 12:24 p.m. Sunday when fire broke out in a room at 723 West Bell. Neither occupant—John Glenn and his mother, Mary—was in the home but the Rockdale VFD rescued two cats from the home and administered oxygen to them. John Glenn (L) and firefighter Joshua Todd did the honors. Fire Chief Ward Roddam said firefighters carry pet-sized oxygen masks for just such occurrences.
