—Members of the Thursday Reading Club celebrated the end of the year of books, programs and fun with a wine and cheese party at the home of Patricia McKee. Other hostesses were members of the yearbook committee Chair Barbara Nelson and Wendie Upson. Course of study for the year was Women’s Words and Wisdom and books read and reviewed were The Riviera House by Natasha Lester reviewed by Geri Burnett, The Ride of Her Life by Elizabeth Letts reviewed by Wilma Owens, The Last thing He Told Me by Laura Dave with Mrs. Burnett, reviewer, The Lost Wife by Susanna Moore with Gloria Walker, reviewer, and Hello Beautiful by Ann Napolitano reviewed by Ann King. The annual wildflower trip was through the country to Georgetown where flowers were abundant. The trip, arranged by Mrs. Nelson, included a delicious lunch at The Post Restaurant, a guided tour of the Georgetown Public Library, and a popular bookstore and gift shop. The club does not meet during the summer months but will resume meetings with a fall luncheon in September. Club members are (front row L-R) Gloria Walker, Jeanie Weed, Geri Burnett and Wilma Owens.
