A former two-time City of Rockdale Public Works Department employee was indicted Thursday for sexual assault of a child in connection with an incident that’s alleged to have happened nine years ago.
Brandon Shane Whit-mire, 36, now a resident of Jasper, was one of 25 persons indicted in the April grand jury session, according to Prosecutor Bill Torrey.
Rockdale Police Lt. Stephen Goodrich told The Reporter a woman had come to the police department March 30 to make an “outcry” over an incident she said occurred in a Rockdale home when she was 15.
Whitmire was arrested April 6, booked into the Milam County Jail and was released after posting $20,000 bond.
The arrest affidavit, the incident references an incident March 1, 2009, at a Morrison Street address.
Goodrich said the 15-year-old told police she had been baby-sitting.
Whitmire worked for the city two different times, for a total of a total of eight years.
Records show he was employed from 2008-2011 and again from 2012-2017.
