Rockdale Fair Rules have been updated for 2018 and are posted on the website for viewing: https://counties.agrilife.org/mc4h/rockdale-fair/.

Please look at those rules and make sure all of the rules are being followed.

Dates to remember:

• Oct. 3—Pig scramble entry form due. Rules on website.

• Saturday, Oct 6: Commercial Heifers palpation and body condition scoring, 8 to 10 a.m.

Oct 13—Children’s Pageant, Rockdale Fair Queen Pageant, baked goods competition.

• Oct 15-17—Home economics division.

• Oct 17—Pig scramble, welcome party.

• Oct 18—Market rabbits, market broilers, market lambs.

• Oct 19—Breeding beef heifers, mutton busting, market swine, ag mechanics, commercial heifers, market goats, market steers.

• Oct 20—Livestock auction, baked goods sale, mutton busting

There are many more activities to do.

LIVESTOCK SHOW—

All market animals can begin arriving at 7 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 18.

Division and in place times are as follows:

Commercial heifers and rabbits, 9 a.m.; swine, 10 a.m.; lambs, goats, steers, broilers and breeding beef heifers by 12-noon.

All park gates will close at noon, and all cars, trucks, and trailers must be removed from Fair Park to public parking areas.

Rabbits, broilers and swine will enter in the front gate to unload. All others will enter through the back gate by the livestock office to unload.

HOME ECONOMICS— Home Economics division and auction baked goods rules are posted on the website.

Home Economics activities will be back at the New Salem Building on the fair grounds at the beginning of the week.

Check-in for the nonfood division starts Monday, Oct. 15 and all other entries including food will continue check in until noon Tuesday, Oct. 16.

Check out will be Wednesday, Oct. 17, with pictures at 5:30 p.m.

There are a lot of changes in the rules so please make sure you look them over.

There are some exciting and new awards and categories.

PARTY—A Welcome Party/Exhibitor Kick-Off will be held at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 17 at Fair Park.

There will be free T-shirts for all exhibitors, free hot dog dinner for exhibitors, family night at the carnival, pick up exhibitor passes, and you may bring all your tack, feed, signage, stalls, etc. (no animals). Pig scramble will start at 7 p.m. and is sponsored by Texas Farm Bureau Insurance.
