Whenever something big happens in the Rockdale area, you can count on the faithful, Communities in Concert Band to be there. There’s not much bigger than Rockdale’s Fourth of July celebration that drew an estimated 1,000 persons to the Fair Park area Thursday evening and night and the band was a big part of it. The volunteer musicians played an extended set with numerous patriotic songs, ending with that Fourth of July favorite, the “1812 Overture,” even featuring simulated cannon fire. The group has musicians from numerous towns and communities and practices many Sunday evenings in Rockdale. They are always looking for new members.
