Rockdale Junior High student registration for the 2021-22 school year is in full swing.

RJH Administration traveled to Rockdale Intermediate on Feb. 8, meeting with each fifth-grade student individually.

As “rising sixth graders,” students learned about course options and made their preliminary selections for the upcoming school year.

Elective options for sixthgrade students include:

Succeed—Students will learn organizational and study skills, develop critical thinking, learn to ask probing questions, receive academic help from peers, and participate in enrichment and motivational activities to make their college dreams reality.

Technology Applications—In this class, students will make informed decisions by understanding current and emerging technologies including technology systems, digital tools and personal learning networks.

As competent researchers and responsible digital citizens, students will use creative and computational thinking to solve problems.

Beginning Band—Students will perform at all RISD concerts and other various activities at RJH.

In this class, students are expected to gain an understanding of rhythm, tone production on their various instruments, playing as an ensemble and proper concert etiquette skills.

Intro to Art—This course will introduce students to basic elements of visual literacy through the exploration of art history in a variety of cultural traditions, geographic locations, and chronological periods.

Students will learn about principles of design, form, and iconography while exploring the art of prehistoric time period to modern times.

Students will learn about different societies and culture through creating artwork that reflects what students have learned from that time period.

Money Management—Where did all your money go? What is the difference between a credit card and a debit card?

Students will apply management skills to their personal banking, learn how to establish and maintain credit, and analyze cost of living.

Theatre Arts—This introduction will guide students through their first steps towards understanding “the basics” of theatre.
