With the filing deadline Feb. 12., candidates have been slow to get to the starting gate. The election is May 1.
So far only five candidates have announced their intentions for office and four of those are in Milano.
In the Milano City Council race four incumbents have filed to reclaim their seats. Mayor Karl Westbrook is running again as are council members Steve Honeycutt, Bryan Woods and Glenda Westbrook.
No one as of Tuesday had signed up to run for the Milano Independent School District board openings.
So far no one has filed for office in Rockdale for the two seats on the City Council whose terms expire this year.
Troy Zinn, who is currently the Rockdale Independent School District board president has filed for reelection to Place 2, according to a district spokeswoman.
Both the Thorndale council and Thorndale ISD board remain bereft of candidates.
