Filing is underway for the May 2 municipal and school board elections in Texas.
First day to file was to have been Wednesday (Jan. 15) and the City of Rockdale and Rockdale ISD School Board will each elect two members.
City voters will also be asked whether ownership of Fair Park will be transferred from the city to the Rockdale Fair Association.
CITY—Terms of west ward council member Doug Calame and east ward incumbent Denise Holmes-Wallace expire in 2020.
Calame, the council’s senior member, was first elected in a 2010 special election. He was re-elected in 2011, 2014 and 2017.
Homes-Wallace was elected in 2014 and re-elected in 2017.
Candidates may file during weekday business hours at City Hall.
SCHOOL—Terms of Lin Perry, Place 6 school board member, and Julia Cardona, Place 7 incumbent, are expiring this year.
Perry was first elected in 2011 and was re-elected in 2014 and 2017.
Cardona was appointed to the school board in September, 2017, following the death of incumbent Kent Bowermon earlier that year.
She was re-elected to the remainder of that Place 7 term one year earlier.
Final day to file is Feb. 14.
RHD—Three terms on the Rock-dale Hospital District board of directors will be decided by voters this year.
Terms expiring are those of the following incumbents:
• Gerry Offield, Place 2 (East Ward).
• Karolyn Puccio, Place 4 (West Ward).
• Lachelle Matthews, At Large. Matthews was appointed to replace longtime board member Dick Burns earlier this year.
Filing forms may be picked up at City Hall or the district’s office in the former Richards Memorial Hospital.
