Fire calls dispatched to South Milam County Volunteer Fire Departments during the past seven days from the Rockdale Police Station were listed as follows:
• 1:11 p.m. Sept. 4, grass fire in ditch, US 79 at County road 142; Thorndale VFD.
• 1:21 p.m. Sept. 4, Rock-dale VFD responded for mutual aid to assist Thorn-dale VFD for multiple grass fires along US 79 near County Road 442.
BURN BAN LIFTED—
The rural outdoor burning ban has been lifted by County Judge Dave Barkemeyer.
Judge Barkemeyer lifted the ban last week at the request of the Milam County Fire Chiefs and Fire Marshal’s Association.
They cited the return of wetter weather as fall nears. Forecasts call for more rainfall this week.
Burn ban situations only affect rural areas. Milam municipalities have their own, permanent, outdoor during bans.
