Fire calls for local Volunteer Fire Departments during the past week included:
Rockdale VFD
• Responded on Wednesday to a medical assist of a patient burned by oatmeal.
• Responded to 4764 West US 79 at 10:48 a.m. for a grass fire and returned at 1:12 p.m. for a rekindle.
• Responded to medical assist on Thursday for a possible stroke.
• Responded to a report of a fire on Thursday at 2771 CR 322. It was a controlled burn that had not been called in.
• Responded with AMR and the Milam County Sheriff’s Department on Saturday at 1953 CR 302 for a camper on fire.
• Responded on Saturday to 2894 North US 77 for trash and a tree on fire on the side of the road.
• Responded to Murray and Meadow on Sunday for a trash can on fire.
Thorndale VFD
• Responded for a medical assist for difficulty breathing on Tuesday.
• Responded to a field on fire at 3500 CR 457 on Tuesday.
• Responded to a report of a fire near Oak Club which turned out to be a controlled bun.
• Responded with Rockdale VFD on Friday to a field of round bales of hay on fire.
• Responded with the Milam County Sheriff’s Department to an accident at US 79 and CR 486. No injuries were reported.
• Responded with AMR and the Milam County Sheriff’s Department to a one vehicle rollover on US 79 and Brushy Creek on Sunday.
Gause VFD
• Responded to a medical assist for patient heart racing on Thursday.
• Responded with the Milam County Sheriff’s Department and AMR to 522 West Gause Blvd. for a one vehicle rollover on Friday.
• Responded to two separate calls for medical assist for patients with difficulty breathing.
Milano VFD
• Responded to 4035 CR 428 for an out-of-control controlled burn on Sunday.
