When the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce said there would be something for everyone at their first farmers market, they meant it. From papusas to pygmy goats (at right) and everything in between, Saturday’s market was outstanding, including the sunny springtime weather.
With last month’s ice storm, it was a little too early for fresh fruit and vegetables, but there was no lack of homemade things to buy and lots of organizations to talk to about what they do and offering volunteering possibilities.
Here are just a few shots of the farmers market on Saturday. Going clockwise from the top left are Kenedi Moore with Starry Nights Candles, lots of homemade jarred items on sale at another booth, the Pentecostal Youth Group had lots of delicious goodies for sale under their tent, a savvy Girl Scout made out like a bandit with her cookies, Susan McKenzie the admissions nurse at Rockdale Estates and Rehabilitation giving out information in their booth under the pavilion, Diana Casario (in the middle) was the big winner of the chamber drawing going home with all sorts of prizes. She was joined by her daughter, Amanda Bertholomey (left) and organizer Georgia Marshall.
