QUICK LOOK

National Music Week is Sunday through May 13 and Rockdale’s Matinee Musical Club has a couple of events for the public this weekend, including a free movie at the historic Kay Theatre.

The music club is sponsoring a showing of the classic “Mary Poppins” at 2 p.m. Sunday.

It’s free and open to all.

“Mary Poppins,” starring Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke, is a classic, widely believed to be the crowning achievement of Walt Disney studios while its founder was still alive.

It won five Academy Awards including best actress for Andrews and best song for “Chim, Chim Cheree.”

FIRST FRIDAY—The Matinee Musical Club will host the city library’s monthly First Friday coffee session from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday.

Music Club members will perform.

For more Music Week activities, see “Organizations” on page 4B.

The Matinee Musical Club is a member of the National Federation of Music Clubs.
