“Being there” is half the battle with any task we undertake. What many don’t realize is how critical attendance is to the learning process.

This includes missing part of the day. Students who are checked out for any part of the day are missing valuable instructional time.
Our students and staff are having to work extremely hard to make up for the instructional time lost during the spring due to the pandemic as well as to learn new content.
Reading skills are critical to student success and reading can be heavily impacted by absenteeism.
As students reach the third grade, their reading skills have matured to the point where they transition from learning to read into reading to learn.
A study from the U.S. Department of Education found that students who cannot read at grade level by the end of third grade are four times more likely than proficient readers to drop out of high school.
Students with good skills in this area are much more successful, more likely to attend college, and generally become lifelong learners.

The school day at RIS begins at 7:30 am with the tardy bell ringing at 7:45 am.
This gives us the best possible opportunity to educate our students. Students who are still learning online need to be on time to each of their scheduled sessions. Students who miss 10
Students who miss 10 minutes of instruction in an online class will not receive credit for that class period.
