Central Texas Food Bank through Rockdale Christian Services donated 1,000 pounds of vegetables and fruit to Springfield Baptist Church, and was distributed on Friday by Henry Miller, Geraldine Amugo, Elissa Benford-Roberts and Dorthy Howard.
This was the second time food has been donated, and it usually happens on the third Friday of the month. Springfield Baptist serves anyone who stops by for food, and they also deliver to those who are home bound.
“We fill the bags based on how many are in the family, and most are families with children. People don’t have to get out of their cars, we deliver it to the cars and ask them to open the trunk or we put in back seat of car. We’ve even had a few people on bicycles,” according to Benford-Roberts.
