A professional food manager training certification course will be offered by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, Brazos County on Monday, Aug. 19.
Cost for the course titled “Food Safety: It’s Our Business” offered at 2619 Hwy 21 West, Bryan, TX 77803 is $115.
The fee includes training, materials and a national food manager certification examination, which is valid for five years.

Students should bring acceptable photo identification, such as a driver’s license, ID card, military ID or passport. Students cannot take the exam without an ID.
The program is designed to equip students with the latest food safety principles and practices, such as food-borne illnesses/outbreaks, types of contamination, food safety hazards, identifying foodborne illnesses and personal hygiene.
The benefits of the course are:
• Understanding major causes of foodborne illness and how to prevent them.
• Boosting employee morale by increasing their professionalism.
• Improving relationships with health officials.
• Receiving information in order to train staff on-site.
• Increasing employees food safety knowledge.
• Fulfilling the state requirements for Certified Food Manager status.
All refund requests will be assessed a $25 cancellation fee. Refunds will be issued if: Email or fax notification to Julie Prouse (jlommert@ag.tamu.edu or979-458-2080) is received at least two days before the course start date.
Substitutions may be made by emailing Julie Prouse at jlommert@ag.ta-mu.edu. If the course is canceled, a full refund will be made.
If a student chooses not to get a refund and “transfer classes,” you have 1 year from date of receipt to use your credit. A $20.00 fee will be assessed on all returned checks.
