There will be not celebration of the “stars and stripes” this year in our town. The Milano City Council decided to cancel the annual July 4th parade and community meal for this year at their meeting on Monday night. The event was the only one of its kind in the area. The cancellation is due to the current coronavirus pandemic.
WORKOUTS—Summer workouts have begun for Milano High School athletes and now includes junior high athletes.
This week, junior high and high school boys’ basketball met at 4:30 p.m. Monday and Wednesday and then hit the weight room at 6 p.m.
Junior high girls were in the weight room at 1 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday.
High school girls were in the weight room at 2 p.m. on Tuesday and 3 p.m. on Thursday. Girls speed and agility workout is at 2 p.m. on Thursday.
High school volleyball meets at 10 a.m. Wednesday and Friday.
Athletes must come dressed, as locker rooms will not be available. Attendees also must bring their own towel. For more information, contact Athletic Director Wendy King at wking@ milanoisd.net.
SUMMER MEALS— Milano ISD is offering free summer meals for students 18 years old and younger through June 30. If you would like for your child(ren) to receive a nutritious meal, please contact the MISD cafeteria (512-455-9333) or simply stop by between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to pick up a meal. The address for pickup is 600 N. Sixth St. in Milano.
