The City of Milano held its annual Fourth of July parade and free hot dog meal last week. Results of parade winners are as follows:

• Best overall—Lady Eagles 10u softball team.

• Floats—Lil’ Eagles 6u T-ball team, first; Milam County Girl Scouts, second; Cecilia Martinez, third.

• Horses and wagons—Titus Briden and Shiner Thurman, first; Katelyn Stewart, second; Morning Star Ranch, third.

• Small motorized/motorized—Mark Morrow, first; Joel Corona, second; Cliff Menzel, third.

• Vehicles/tractors—Kamri and Kaden Yakesch, first; Giovanni Reyes, second; Ruben Martinez, third.

• Bicycles/walkers—Cindy Martinez, first; Allyson Steinbecker and Danice Beathard, second; Renee Ryan, third.

Milano Evening Lions Club served up the hot dog meal provided by the city, with around 220 going through the line, which also included chips, soda and cupcakes.

AG BOOSTERS—The Milano Gause Ag Booster Club monthly meeting has been moved to Monday, July 15 at the Milano High School cafeteria.

FOOTBALL SKILLS—Milano football summer skills training times and dates have been announced. They started this week on Monday and Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. at the football field. Other dates include July 15, 18, 24, 25, 29 and Aug. 1. Players must have a current physical to participate in the skills training. Two-a-days will start the morning of Aug. 5.

BLOOD DRIVE—The Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center will hold a blood drive on Saturday, July 20 at the Milano Volunteer Fire Department’s McLane Station. The event will start at 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Contact Devin Love, 512-820-8034, to sign up to donate, or visitwww.giveblood.org.

FIRST BAPTIST VBS—Milano First Baptist Church will host its Vacation Bible School July 21-24. Attendees are asked to arrive at 5:30 p.m. the first night so registration can be filled out and they can get started at 6 p.m. Times will run from 6-8:30 p.m. each night. The theme this year is “In The Wild: Encountering Jesus.”

RAH-RAH CAMP—Rah-Rah camp this year will be held July 30-31. Watch for more detail in this column in the coming weeks.

SUNFLOWER RUN/WALK— The Sunflower Fun Run/Walk benefiting the Melodie Hope Jones Memorial Scholarship Fund is set for Sept. 28 at Davidson Creek Park in Caldwell. The kids’ one-mile fun run is at 9 a.m. and the 5K Sunflower run will start at 9:30 a.m. Prices are $30 for the 5K and $25 for the Kids Run. Guaranteed T-shirt if registered by Sept. 1. Please wear bright colors the day of the race. Sunflowers, crazy socks and tutus are encouraged. Registration will also be available on race day from 8-8:45 a.m.
